‘KABUFF’ offers artists to present their work in a 2m2 storage room in our court.
“Volver al hogar” is a site-specific reflection on urban wildlife, ancestral senses, and the quiet power of attention. Inspired by the primitive paintings of early humans, I propose to take the Kabuff corner as if it were a cavern, depicting animals I’ve encountered since arriving in Linz—hares, beavers, birds, insects—arranged across the walls like modern-day rock art.
Far from intending a stylized imitation of prehistoric art, this intervention simply tries to return to the raw sincerity of those first images, drawn not with style, but with instinct. While early humans painted animals as a call to abundance, this work is a call to the wildlife that adapts and endures within the city. It is both a tribute to their presence and an invitation to participants to do the same: to appreciate, remember, and add their own animal sightings to the wall using the direct language of first-time image-making. Visitors are invited to add their own figures using organic materials provided on site, portraying creatures they’ve seen in the city with the same unfiltered honesty.
Volver al hogar means “to come back home” in Spanish. A gesture of returning to a way of seeing that is humble, present, and deeply connected to the everyday.
