WE ARE OLD is a trio operating at the intersection of complex rhythmic structures and distilled musical ideas.
Alto saxophonist Elio Amberg, double bassist Xaver Rüegg and drummer Paul Amereller have been working together a long time, developing a precise, dynamic and clearly identifiable band sound.
For their residency in Linz, the trio collaborates with guitarist, audio designer and improviser Mikael Szafirowski. Using live electronics and sound nanipulation, Szafirowski processes and extends the rio's acoustic instruments in real time, continuously altering and reframing their sound. The collaboration creates an open and responsive sonic situation in which acoustic and electronic elements interact directly.
